Faithful Creator

1Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

The Jews were being persecuted for their faith in God. Why did Peter try to encourage the suffering believers with a statement about God as a “faithful Creator?” Just as we expect the sun to rise each day, we should have even more confidence in the God Who makes it happen!

First, we know that God did not just make us and leave us alone. His faithfulness includes daily involvement in our lives. He numbers the hairs on our head, so He knows more about us than we know ourselves! He knows when our heart aches or we get ill. He knows when we are full of fear. An unfaithful creator would ignore the little things, but God doesn’t. Psalm 103:13-14 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Second, He has a purpose for us that will not be thwarted. That is why we commit to Him the keeping of our souls - this is the purpose to which He created us, to exist with Him. No one can snatch us out of God’s hand! John 10:28-30 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

Third, He will help us. 1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. His sustaining, strengthening, guiding, protecting, providing grace enables us to endure trials as a part of His perfect will. An unfaithful creator would not protect from harm. An unfaithful creator would not offer help when we are tested.

Fourth, we know He has ordained any suffering that we endure. Exodus 4:11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Whether or not we understand the reason or can explain it to others, our faithful Creator has a reason for each and every trial we endure.

Psalm 119:89-90 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
